Kitchen Safety Superstar
Real bakers keep their kitchens safe so they can keep baking forever. Before you crack a single egg, learn the Superstar Safety Rules!
Always bake with a grown-up
Ovens, stoves, mixers and knives are grown-up tools. Ask a grown-up to be your baking buddy. They can do the hot and sharp jobs while you measure, mix and decorate.
Wash, wash, wash!
Germs love to sneak into food. Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds (sing "Happy Birthday" twice!) before baking, and again after touching raw eggs.
Get ready like a pro
Tie back long hair, roll up your sleeves, and put on an apron. Read the WHOLE recipe before you start so there are no surprises.
Hot stuff rules
Use thick, dry oven mitts. Wet mitts let heat right through! Point pot handles toward the back of the stove so nobody bumps them.
- ๐ Never touch the oven door glass
- ๐ Say "HOT!" loudly when carrying something hot
- ๐ Let trays cool on a rack, not on the counter edge
Don't eat raw dough
It is SO tempting, but raw flour and raw eggs can have germs that make tummies sick. Wait for the baked treat. It is worth it!
